River Locks

We passed through four river locks on our way downstream to the Pacific. The following images are from the first two locks on our journey.

Columbia River We approached our first lock on the trip downriver.
Columbia River Due to the flooding, the spillway at the dam was letting through an unusually large volume of water.

Columbia River Once the water dropped, the lock gates opened and we were able to proceed. The style of lock gate on this lock is called batwing. This lock dropped us an impressive 90 feet.
