Interlaken, Switzerland

August 1996

Since Bill's grandfather was from Switzerland, Bill insisted that we take a vacation there. We visited Zurich, Interlaken, and Bern. The following pictures are from the Interlaken portion of the trip.  Interlaken is a resort town best known for skiing.  However, we visited during the off season and still found it an interesting town to visit.

We happened onto a street party one afternoon. They were serving a local beer and food.  They also had live entertainment.

On the Jungfrau mountain - Jungfrauhoch:

See map.  We took two trains to get to Jungfrauhoch. The second train was a cog train that tunneled through the glacier below Jungfrauhoch.  The cog train stopped several time to allow the tourists to exit to scenic overlooks to view the glacier.

Although the mountains near Interlaken remain snow covered year around, it did not seem all that cold when we visited.
