The town of Jerome originally existed to support the copper mining in the Black Hills of Arizona. When the copper played out almost everyone left. In the past few years residents of Jerome have repurposed the town as a tourist attraction.
We visited Jerome to see a ghost town near Jerome. Unlike Jerome, this little community mined gold. My expectation was a collection of old, unoccupied buildings that represented a period of history. In fact, this ghost town was a repository of early to mid-20th century debris. While there were interesting artifacts, the site needs a curator.
Bill and I are old enough that much of the stuff at the ghost town brought back memories. Bill kept telling me to photograph the old stuff. Below are some representative images of the types of things that we saw.
