"You did what?" Yes, really. We did go on an all terrain vehicle (ATV) tour. We each had our own ATV and got real dirty.
I read somewhere that if you are going to do something scary, go first. So I picked a bright red ATV and went first, right after our tour leader. Know what? It works.
This tour took us through an area that had once been sugar cane fields. The sugar cane industry collapsed in Hawai'i, so some folks found other things to do with the sugar cane fields. The area we toured is scenic and generally not visible from roads. We travelled up and down some very steep hills and through a tunnel.
This is us with some fellow ATVers. They appeared to be a good deal younger than us. Even so, they were able to keep up.
We rode the ATVs through the Wilcox tunnel. The owners of this sugar cane plantation build the tunnel to facilitate the harvest of sugar cane.
The tunnel is narrow for a haul cane truck. It took real skill to take such a truck through the tunnel without an accident. On the other hand, the tunnel was wide enough for an ATV.
