We took a bullet train from Paris to Dijon. They go very fast. You need a reservation to ride one; the date, time, and seat are assigned.
Dijon is the capital of Burgundy. Dijon is known for mustard, and Crème de Cassis. Burgundy wine comes from the area.
Dijon's symbol is an owl.
I was very much taken by the small alabaster statues of the mourners that decorated Phillip the Bold’s tomb. These figures, created in the late 14th century, show a level of emotion and character not usually seen in early Renaissance sculpture. I also was taken by the challenge of photographing the figures in poor lighting conditions.
After lunch and some free time for sightseeing and shopping, we met our group at the frog fountain.
