Q: Did you go with a group?
A: Yes, this trip was sponsored by the University of Illinois Explorers, an alumni association. There were 19 of us in our group from various Universities. The tour agency was AHI which also provided us a tour leader, Sylvie, for the duration of our stay.
----
Q. Where did you stay?
A: We stayed at the Adagio Aparthotel, located in Bercy, a renovated and modern area of Paris. Our two room suite came with a very small kitchen which we did not use.
----
Q. Were meals included in the tour?
A. All breakfasts and five dinners were included in the tour. By choice, we ate our lunches and the remaining dinners out. Many of our lunches were at tourist attractions. Our dinners were always at one of the restaurants in Bercy Village.
----
Q. How is crime in Paris?
A. For a large city, not bad. Pickpockets, especially near tourist attractions, are a problem. Other than the pickpockets I saw no indication that there was crime.
----
Q. How did you get around?
A. We used the subway system, Metro. Our tour leader, Sylvie, taught us how to navigate the Metro and after several days expected us to navigate to our scheduled tours by ourselves. You can get almost anywhere in Paris on the Metro, but you may need to transfer trains to get to your destination. Trains run frequently. Some trains are totally automatic which I find somewhat frightening.
----
Q. Why don’t you have more photos of classical artwork on your web pages?
A. Most major works of art have been photographed already and usually under better circumstances – nicer lighting and no crowds.
----
Q. Did you see the Eiffel Tower lit up?
A. No.
----
Q. How many photos did you take? How many photos are on these webpages?
A. I took 505 photos, deleting 53 in the camera before I moved the photos to my computer. Of the 452 pictures that I kept, I used 101 on these webpages.
