International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, Wisconsin

October 14, 2013

The International Crane Foundation has the mission to “conserve cranes and the ecosystems, watersheds, and flyways on which they depend.” Their site in Baraboo, WI is a zoo-like facility that purports to exhibit all 15 species of cranes from throughout the world. I did not count to see if all the 15 different species were on exhibit.

IFC Wisconsin color: The sumac leaves still had some green.
IFC Brolga - native of Australia. I would like to think that the cranes that came up to the fence were friendly or, at least, curious. In fact, they were preparing to defend their territories, their bird runs.
