After visiting Nell we drove west across Florida to Fort Meyers and then to Sanibel Island. Sanibel Island is a barrier island near Fort Meyers Florida. The island is noted for its beaches and for the Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge. Its only access to the mainland is by a causeway. Sanibel Island is cresent shaped, bounded on the south by the Gulf of Mexico and on the north by Tarpon Bay.
Bill and I spent a week on Sanibel Island at a time-share condominium in the Casa Ybel resort. Cassie, Russ, and Roxanne joined us for five of those days.
