Iceland - Land of Fire and Ice

2010

Bill and I joined the U of I explorers for an excursion to Iceland. Our trip had two parts: a pre-cruise and a cruise. The pre-cruise was a one-night stay in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. The cruise on the MS Le Boreal, a French cruise ship, lasted a week.

Iceland is northwest of Ireland and east of Greenland. Although Iceland is quite far north, the climate is milder than you would expect due to ocean currents. Iceland is sparsely populated with about half the population living in or near Reykjavik.
